BACKGROUND: In order to deliver greater clarity of purpose and direction for the Division of Student Engagement and Campus Life, we are completing work on a formal Strategic Plan 2020-2022. Due to considerable turnover in leadership in recent years, the unit has not experienced sustained development of its mission.

SUMMARY OF PROGRAMS/ACTIVITIES: At the time of submission of this document, Mr. Arlen Sims had conducted focus groups with students, unit staff, and various representatives from departments across campus. Following this data collection, the staff in the unit will convene with the Vice President for Student Engagement and Campus Life to identify overarching themes and concrete deliverables/timelines for implementation beginning January 2020. An executive summary will be provided at this meeting.

Goal 1: Enhance Student Enrollment, Improve Student Life and Engagement, and Improve Student Advising and Career Development

PROGRAM IMPLICATIONS: This process will ensure that more intentional and meaningful work will be done to support our students. As staff fully appreciate and take ownership for the mission, they become better positioned to develop programming and plans with a deeper sense of purpose and impact, resulting in better quality experiences for students.
