Faculty Workload is measured here by the number of credit hours each faculty member teaches.
Per the faculty handbook, faculty workload is 12 undergraduate hours or 9 graduate hours per semester. Some faculty have reduced workload for things such as administrative positions Dean and Chair. Faculty Senate President and Faculty Senate Secretary also have a one course reduction.
The workload for faculty in the College of Agriculture, Communities and Environment is 3-4 credit hours per semester due to the nature of their research appointments.
University College – Freshmen orientation courses are taught by Student Affairs personnel with a faculty line. They do not teach full time.
During the Fall Semester, with the increased enrollment, many Chairs and Deans are teaching. Also teaching this fall are the Provost, Vice Provost and Deputy Provost. While they are teaching only one course each, this brings down the overall average per faculty.
If you review the detailed list of faculty by College and the Faculty Workload in Credit Hours, you will see that all fulltime faculty without an approved reduced load are teaching at maximum or at overload.
For Fall 2019, we have 28 faculty members teaching between 15-24 credit hours.
