The goals of the project is to invest in the upgrade of the campus fiber optic network which will serve the students and faculty of KSU for many generations and decades into the future. The main goals of the project include:
Upgrade the existing 62.5 multi-mode fiber to single mode fiber which will allow virtually unlimited speeds between campus buildings and campus hubs each campus building would have a minimum connection of 10Gbps.
Create 5 Campus “Hub Locations” that will be interconnected with multiple paths of fiber to increase reliability and resiliency. Each campus hub site would initially be interconnected at 40Gbps with the ability to scale beyond 40Gbps as needed in the future if the need arises.
