KSU Foundation Scholarship Process

The Process

The KSU Private Source Foundation awards scholarships to undergraduate students that demonstrate the need for additional financial assistance to cover outstanding balances. Funds are requested through an online application process (see link below). Each student must complete an online application to apply for the scholarship along with a 250-word essay stating how the funds will benefit him or her academically. Upon a thorough vetting of all scholarship applications from the Director of Scholarships, all applicants who meet the required qualifications are notified they have met the requirements and their applications will be sent out for justification. Approved applicants are then forwarded to the Foundation Scholarship Committee with through a justification document for final verification and approval.

Once approved, a transmittal is generated by the Foundation Scholarship Committee and submitted to the offices of financial aid, bursars and scholarship office. If a student’s financial status changes upon waiting on the scholarship process, financial aid will only award and/or post what the student is eligible to receive. Once awards are posted to student’s accounts by the bursar’s office the Director of Scholarships will notify the students concerning their respective award status.

If students does not meet the required qualifications, he/she are notified from the scholarship office with an explanation of why he/she were denied. If a student’s denial status changes for the better and meets the qualifications with legitimate reasons, he/she may resubmit a corrected and/or revised application as long as it is within the applications timeframe of acceptance.
