Some general supplies might be needed to carry out projects. The program will need to make copies and need general office supplies to produce training packets. Giveaways or prizes might also be procured to incentivize student involvement in the pilot capstone course and for the eventual day of student research event.
The budget also includes funds for purchase of software. Handshake is a National Association of Career Educators (NACE) endorsed software for job and internship postings, resume building and cover letter creation that will be used to enhance student success and awareness of careers in fields in which Design Thinking, cultural agility, teamwork and advanced communication skills are valued by employers.
While physical facilities are generally adequate, a flex space is needed on campus for students to use tools that will enhance their understanding of Design Thinking, have designated spaces for team projects, and become a center for applied learning projects. The room would be furnished with moveable furniture, wi-fi enhanced flooring and soundproofing, computer equipment and other tools needed to enable students to design and practice communication, inquiry and team skills related to improved career readiness.
As of this writing, grant funding sources for the QEP have been and are being identified, and the goal is to have most or all of the pilot phase of the QEP project funded through grant funds.
