Proposed Infrasound Level
- Draft ordinance requires 65 dB(z) maximum at property boundary
- dB(z) does not reduce the measurement sensitivity at lower frequencies, like typical dB(A) or lesser degree dB(C)
- Assuming the noise source is 1/4 mile from property perimeter
- At 1/2 mile the sound would be around 59 dB
- At 1 mile the sound would be around 53 dB
- At 2 miles the sound would be around 46 dB
- So at 2 miles the level (if compliant with draft ordinance) is still significantly above their ‘rural level’ from the study presented
- (approximately at the NASA perception criteria 'window' also from first study)
—This level is defensible based on human effect but is likely a challenge for data center to comply and unlikely a gas turbine generator(s) can comply
