Proposed Infrasound Level
Draft ordinance requires 65 dB(z) maximum at property boundary
dB(z) does not reduce the measurement sensitivity at lower frequencies, like typical dB(A) or lesser degree dB(C)
Assuming the noise source is 1/4 mile from property perimeter
At 1/2 mile the sound would be around 59 dB
At 1 mile the sound would be around 53 dB
At 2 miles the sound would be around 46 dB
So at 2 miles the level (if compliant with draft ordinance) is still significantly above their ‘rural level’ from the study presented
(approximately at the NASA perception criteria 'window' also from first study)
—This level is defensible based on human effect but is likely a challenge for data center to comply and unlikely a gas turbine generator(s) can comply
