Attendance or academic engagement must be recorded for every class session or weekly engagement period.
In-person and hybrid courses: Record presence/absence in Canvas within 24 hours of the class meeting.
A student who has not completed any academically related activity in the first two weeks of the term must be flagged as “Never Attended” in Banner.
Never Attended reports must be submitted no later than the end of Week 2 of each term.
Financial Aid uses this information to determine whether a student is eligible for federal funds. Late or missing reports can result in incorrect aid disbursements that the student must repay.
Midterm grades are required for all undergraduate courses.
Midterm grades must be entered and certified in Wired/Banner by the Registrar-published deadline each term.
Midterm grades are used by academic advisors and the Early Alert system to identify and support at-risk students. They do not appear on the student's transcript.
Records must be retained for a minimum of three years
Final grades are required for all courses and all students, including students who stopped attending.
Final grades must be entered in Wired/Banner within 72 hours of the final exam or the last scheduled class meeting for the course, whichever is later.
Faculty must review all entered grades for accuracy before certifying submission. Submitted grades become part of the student's permanent academic record.
Do not leave any grade blank. If a student did not complete the course and does not qualify for an Incomplete, assign the appropriate grade per KSU's grading policy.
An LDA must be recorded in Wired/Banner for every student who receives a grade of D or F.
The LDA is the last date the student completed an academically related activity, not the last date they attended class or logged into Canvas.
