Potential Adjustments

  • Embedded data analytics, informatics, or applied technology components into social science and clinical programs.
  • Strengthened experiential learning, internships, and industry partnerships.
  • Rebranded programs under broader applied or natural science umbrellas where appropriate (e.g., psychology under applied sciences).

Outcome

A refined list of continuing programs with clear, polytechnic-aligned enhancements.

Phase 4. Administrative Team - Alignment of Academic Programs with Areas of Study Purpose

Organized all academic programs into the legislatively required Areas of Study, developed in collaboration with the Council on Postsecondary Education (CPE).

Approach

  • Use the following areas of study:
  • Applied Sciences
  • Engineering
  • Health Sciences
  • Humanities
  • Natural Sciences
  • Technology
  • Ensured broad umbrellas to avoid unnecessary program eliminations and to reassure faculty of continued relevance.
  • Maintained the School of Education as a separate area, per legislative direction.

Process

  • Mapped each program to the areas of study.
  • Validated alignment with:
  • Workforce needs
  • Institutional mission
  • Polytechnic identity
