- Consistency of the project with the local floodplain development plan or the land use elements in the Local Government Comprehensive Plan (LGCP), and the potential of encouraging development in the base floodplain: The project has been coordinated with the District One Drainage Engineer. The Build Alternative complies with the DeSoto County Future Land Use Plan and would not encourage any new development in the floodplain.
- Measures to minimize floodplain impacts associated with the project and measures to restore and preserve the natural and beneficial floodplain values impacts by the project: Generally, the proposed improvements maintain the existing water stages upstream of the cross drains. Additional peak flow downstream of the cross drains is not expected to have an adverse impact given the expansiveness of the Peace River floodplain.
