TITLE: AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWNSHIP OF JACKSON, COUNTY OF OCEAN, STATE OF NEW JERSEY AMENDING CHAPTER 3 OF THE ADMINISTRATIVE CODE, ARTICLE IX – DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY, SECTION 3-104 – PERSONNEL POSITIONS

MOTION TO APPROVE ORDINANCE 16-21 ON SECOND READING, ADVERTISE THE NOTICE OF PASSAGE AND APPROVAL IN AN APPROVED NEWSPAPER AS REQUIRED BY LAW BY: CHISHOLM MOTION SECONDED BY: FLEMMING YES: BORRELLI, CHISHOLM, FLEMMING, KERN ABSENT: SAUICKIE

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the Township Council of the Township of Jackson, County of Ocean, State of New Jersey, as follows:

SECTION 1. The Township Code of the Township of Jackson is hereby amended so as to amend Chapter 3, entitled “Administration of Government,” Article IX, entitled “Department of Public Safety,” § 3-104, entitled “Personnel positions,” so as to delete the current language and replace it with new language, which shall read in its entirety as follows:

The Division of Police shall consist of up to 110 sworn officers, all of whom shall have been duly appointed and shall serve in the following positions:

SECTION 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed.

SECTION 3. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase or portion of this ordinance is for any reason held to be invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, such portion shall be deemed a separate, distinct and independent provision, and such holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions hereof.
