MAYORAL APPOINTMENT: MA #13-05 – MOBILE HOME PARK ADVISORY COMMITTEE
MAYOR BRODERICK: He appointed Louis A. Spaldo to the Mobile Home Park Advisory Committee for a period commencing January 24, 2005 and ending December 31, 2005
COMMITTEE COMMENTS:
COMMITTEEMAN GIBLIN: He began by saying that there is about sixteen to twenty inches of snow out there and people have been upset about the speed or frequency in which their streets were plowed. The Public Works Department and the contractors that were hired are doing the best they can, given the situation. The snow stopped on Sunday morning around 10:00 a.m. after snowing for 24 hours and the decision they made in attacking that storm was to wait until a large percentage of that snow had fallen. He explained they received commendation e-mails from developments that were plowed first and then the developments that were done last sent e-mails stating what a horrible job they did. He thinks the Public Works Department did a commendable job and he spoke to various individuals who were out there for upwards of twenty hours and he told them they did a wonderful job and to drive safely. He explained that the main roads and developments were passable and the side streets were done later on. In the instances that doctors or nurses had to get to their places of employment they did notify Public Works and the Police Department and they were taken care of so they could go to work. In closing, he told everyone to drive home safely.
COMMITTEEMAN REILLY: He thanked everyone for coming out. He explained that he wasn’t feeling well this week so he would be brief. He too thanked Public Works for their efforts and hard work in keeping the roads passable. He went on to say that on January 18th there was a rally for our band and he congratulated them on their performance at the Inauguration. He understands they got thumbs up from the President and First Lady as the passed the podium playing Battle Hymn of the Republic. In closing he told everyone to get home safely.
COMMITTEEMAN SEDA: He thanked everyone for coming out on such a cold evening. He then stated he believed that Public Works did a good job this time and he hopes they will continue their efforts. He explained that he just got back into town this afternoon and he was amazed at the job they did considering the amount of snow that came down. He went on to say that he had an opportunity to spend some time with our Mayor at the high school seeing off the band on their way to the Inaugural Parade. He also thanked Mayor Broderick for his kind words in wishing them well and thanked the members of the band for representing Jackson at the Inauguration. In closing, he told everyone to be careful driving home and wished them all well.
DEPUTY MAYOR KAFTON: He began by commending the Jackson High School Band and stated he saw them on television going past the President who had his thumb up and they did a great job. He thanked Public Works for an excellent job in clearing the snow. He thanked the V.F.W. for their support because they cooked food for our Public Works employees who were out there plowing. He went on to speak about the fires in town this past week. The Bamonte family lost their home and everything they had. The Optimist Club and other people in town are trying to help them out. They have two children and are looking for clothes, linens, etc. He asked his fellow Committeemen if through the Mayor's Golf Tournament money they could donate $500 to help this family out. Committeeman Seda asked if they could afford to give another $500? Deputy Mayor Kafton stated they need to limit the funding in these situations because other organizations are also going to be helping out along with him and other residents.
