OFFICERS EMPLOYED BY JACKSON TOWNSHIP TO THE DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED CHECKPOINTS (D.W.I.C.) FY2008

WHEREAS, the Driving While Intoxicated Checkpoints (D.W.I.C.) is a program run by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office for the purpose of identifying and removing intoxicated drivers from the roadways; and

WHEREAS, the D.W.I.C. received funding from the State of New Jersey and the County of Ocean; and

WHEREAS, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office and the Township of Jackson have determined it to be in their mutual interest for Jackson Township to designate officers to be assigned to the D.W.I.C.; and

WHEREAS, the Interlocal Services Act, N.J.S.A. 40:8A-1 et. seq. authorizes local units, as defined in said Act, to enter into joint agreements for the provision of governmental services; and

WHEREAS, the Township of Jackson in the County of Ocean, State of New Jersey, wishes to enter into an agreement with the County for the purpose of setting forth the terms and conditions regarding the assignment of Police Officers employed by Jackson Township to the Driving While Intoxicated Checkpoint Task Force FY 2008.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Township Council of the Township of Jackson, in the County of Ocean, State of New Jersey, as follows:

1. The Mayor and Clerk of the Township of Jackson are hereby authorized and directed to enter into and execute an Interlocal Services Agreement with the County of Ocean for the purpose of setting forth the terms and conditions regarding the assignment of Police Officers employed by Jackson Township to the Driving While Intoxicated Checkpoint Task Force FY 2008 (as outlined in the attached Agreement identified as Schedule “A”).
2. A copy of that agreement is on file and available for public inspection at the Township Clerk’s Office.
3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon passage.
4. Copies of this resolution to Administrator, Chief Financial Officer, Director of Public Safety, Ocean County Prosecutor's Office and any other interested parties.

WHEREAS, certain organizations have applied to the Jackson Township Council for permission to hold Raffle or Bingo Games within the Township for fund raisings: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Township Council of the Township of Jackson, County of Ocean, State of New Jersey, that:
