2nd PUBLIC HEARING OCEAN COUNTY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM CY 2017 2ND PUBLIC HEARING - OCEAN COUNTY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM CY 2017

In accordance with the guidelines set forth, the Township is required to hold two public hearings for the purpose of soliciting ideas and applications the community would like to see presented to the Ocean County Community Development Block Grant Program for CY 2017. This hearing will enable the Township to select and prioritize applications for the Ocean County Community Development Block Grant Program. The first hearing was held on January 24, 2017.

The CY 2017 Community Development Block Grant Application for the Township of Jackson will be for Hud Matrix Code 3 570.201(c) which is Public Facility & Improvements. Projects to be considered are improvements to restroom facilities at the Jackson Township Senior Center focusing on greater ADA accessibility. The approximate value of this grant is $140,000. Projects will be listed by priority based on availability of funds.

PHIL STILTON, 6 KENNEDY COURT – asked if the bathrooms were a done deal and if it was the only project put forth by our Sheri Silversmith, ADA Coordinator. He asked if there is a list of items and if they will be voted on. Township Clerk Eden advised Resolution 089R-17 will contain the information on the CDBG Grant. He asked if there were any more suggested youth services.

SHERI SILVERSMITH, ADA COORDINATOR – she advised this year, like last year, there aren’t any designated target neighborhoods to build in. Because of Jackson’s population, we could only use it for certain projects; it doesn’t allow it for services.

RESOLUTION 089R-17

TITLE: AUTHORIZE SUBMISSION OF PROJECT APPLICATION BY THE TOWNSHIP OF JACKSON FOR INCLUSION IN THE OCEAN COUNTY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM FOR CY 2017

Council President Bressi thanked Ms. Silversmith for her expertise and commuted it to the local newspaper who wrote an in-depth feature. It was written well and your expertise certainly helps to identify what it can be used for; I vote yes.
