TRIP GENERATION
As previously indicated, it is MRA's expectation that the restaurants, convenience store and hotels will draw their patronage heavily from the existing eastbound traffic flow on CR 537 in the evening when Six Flags Great Adventure and Hurricane Harbor are discharging traffic onto eastbound CR 537. Based on this assumption, credits need to be taken for pass-by traffic and internal capture rates (users of the recreational facilities patronizing restaurants and the convenience store, hotel patrons utilizing the restaurants, convenience store and recreational facilities, etc.). Furthermore, during the 10:00 AM-11:00 AM peak hour, traffic flow on Route 537 is predominantly westbound and those vehicles have convenience store, gas and food opportunities on the westbound side of the highway.
The Table II illustrates Adventure Crossing trip generation for each phase at the access points during the weekday and Saturday peak hours. Assumptions with respect to internal capture credits were made only for the hotels, restaurant and convenience store. All traffic generated by the recreational uses, convention center and office/warehouse uses, was assumed to be new traffic. Assumptions with respect to each land use are summarized in the Appendix where detailed trip generation estimates are provided for each phase.
