Council. He stated the Mayor shouldn't tell them what to do and it's their responsibility to make sure the Mayor is doing what he's supposed to and it's their responsibility to tell him how things go and not the other way around.
PATTI PENNINGTON-3 LONDON DRIVE: She stated everyone was frustrated because when you bring an issue to the Mayor’s attention and ask what he would do to resolve it with the Council his response is that he doesn’t have to listen to the Council, he can do anything he wants and he doesn’t have to do anything the Council tells him to do and she felt they should be embarrassed and offended by that. When she spoke to him that’s what she got in return. As a Council they need to anticipate and listen to what people are saying. Council President Updegrave stated when they address the Mayor he does not respond to them with those remarks and confirms she’s had her arguments with him. She also confirmed when she is contacted by email she responds and not to assume otherwise. Ms. Pennington stated when people come to the microphone the Council rolls their eyes, passes notes and treats the public disrespectfully and when the Mayor is present there was more contention and they need to make him stop and it should be demanded of the Mayor.
MICHAEL HOFFMAN-6 TOSHI COURT: He asked Administrator Del Turco about fines or fees and which entity owes the Township the most money. Administrator Del Turco stated if it was with regard to the construction office he would have to inquire and if he submitted an OPRA request he could get an answer in a couple days because he doesn't have access to that information. Councilwoman Ingram asked if there was a way to go to Finance and get the information? Mr. Hoffman stated he wanted to know who the biggest deadbeat was and didn't care if it was for taxes or fines because they should go after them.
DAN PENNINGTON II-3 LONDON DRIVE: He stated the election on Tuesday proved one thing, that associating with this Mayor was bad news because he makes them all look stupid and like they have no backbone. He commented that each one of the Council members were smart people and they had to do something about the Mayor because he's hurting everyone and he pleaded with them to do something about the Mayor and get their money back. Councilwoman Ingram stated when she ran two years ago she ran because she felt she could make a difference and thought it would be great. She found it to be very difficult in getting an answer and gave an example about asking the Administrator for a list of who owes the Town money and suggested going after them. She agreed that they look stupid and was embarrassed and knows she lost the election because of it. She felt the same as the people out there. She was shocked when a resident got up and spoke of EMS and felt foolish because she knew nothing about it. Everyone on the dais shares the same frustration and tried to come up with suggestions. He asked what action had she taken to regain her dignity and power as a Council member because he would have felt slighted by the Mayor and she agreed. He stated at the last meeting the Mayor made a threatening remark to her and if it were him he would have taken legal action against him. She stated in 45 days it will all be over and there would be three new Council members on the dais and if the same things occur the public would see this Council wasn't wrong and maybe it was the Mayor but only time would tell. She stated she asked the Administrator for permission to change the accounting program for free but was unsuccessful. Mr. Pennington stated someone should get the key to the Mayor's office and look for the information he had that he didn't share. Council President Updegrave felt he made his point. Ms. Updegrave requested that the public follow the proper protocol or they would be asked to sit down because there are rules that must be followed when publicly speaking.
RICHARD EGAN-24 OVERLOOK DRIVE: He stated the point Mr. Pennington was trying to make was during the Mayor's 22 months in office, the only thing he was able to accomplish was failure and stated he couldn't run a lemonade stand and make a profit. Mr. Egan stated he went to the turf field during after the last heavy rain storm and on the 5th yard line there was a ton of water because there was no drainage. He stated the Mayor probably didn't want to spend another million dollars for drainage and said he'd shoe him in rather than put holes in the field and pay a fine. He wanted to know who was going to pay for that mistake and why should the taxpayers pay a fine? He stated the Mayor does what he wants and he felt the Council lets him. Council President Updegrave
