WHEREAS, the Tax Collectors’ office has contacted the recipients and needs to reissue the checks listed below and or re-establish the overpayment for transfer to subsequent taxes:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Township Council of the Township of Jackson, in the County of Ocean, State of New Jersey as follows:

  1. The Finance department will reissue original check # 069695 dated 7/25/05 in the amount of $1,230.23 made payable to Noble Title Agency.
  2. The Finance department will reissue original check # 069684 Dated 9/12/05 in the amount of $5,186.24 made payable to FIS Tax Services.
  3. The Tax Collector will re-establish the overpayment of $896.66 for 2005 on Block 7304 Lot 6 and transfer the overpayment to open 2007 taxes.
  4. Finance department will send the reissued checks to the Tax Collectors' office to be recorded on their records and processed for mailing.

TITLE: APPROVE DISABLED VETERAN EXEMPTION ON BLOCK 16901, LOT 15

WHEREAS, The Department of Veteran Affairs determined that John Batton at 44 Savannah Road, Block 16901 Lot 15 to have a service connected disability that is totally disabling effective 1/29/07 and has owned the above listed parcel since 11/17/99;

WHEREAS, Mr. Batton has made application to the Township as a totally disabled veteran, which has been approved by the Tax Assessor as of 4/22/08, and;

WHEREAS, it is Township policy to grant the exemption for the current year, and up to two preceding years.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Township Council of the Township of Jackson, in the County of Ocean, State of New Jersey as follows:

  1. The Tax Collector is directed to cancel taxes as follows:
  2. 2007 - $9,526.02
  3. 2008 - 5,158.76 - 1st half 2008 taxes
  4. The Tax Collector is directed to process a refund for any overpayment due to the cancellation of taxes and cancel the balance of 2008 taxes after they have been determined.
  5. The parcel is to be exempted on the 2009 tax list.
