Ron would like to apply for this Grant. He has researched a parcel of land on Jackson Mills Road.
Steve would like to use the Grant to conserve the Putnam Park (off Rte. 528) area. The Township is proposing to construct a Dog Park at the Putnam Park location, near the front of the park. Steve would like to move the Dog Park area to township owned property at the South side of the loop in the rear and keep the front park area for the planned Arboretum at the site. He would also be interested in working with the Jackson Pathfinders to create walking trails at the park.
Ron will look further into the Grant requirements and will work together with Mary to develop the plans for the park. Application deadline is January 21, 2021.
Arbor Day 2020- Joe stated that the tree has been purchased and is waiting to be planted. Steve stated that the Business Administrator would like to improve the appearance of the outside of the Municipal Building. Steve was looking at the area in the front by the mailbox to develop a plan for landscaping. He will choose the plant material and the installer and recommend to the Administrator. Leo noted that for any landscape plants to survive, a sprinkler system would be needed.
Joe has finished the specifications and Steve will revise the pruning budget to include “if and when” for any additional items that may present after the bidding process has been completed. This amount will be approximately an additional $15,000 - $20,000. Notification must be given to homeowners if pruning is being done on private property. Bidders may chip into the woods where appropriate.
Leo will put the specifications together for the Hazardous Tree Removal. Once reviewed by Steve, it will be put out for bids. Separate prices will be given for clean up and leaving the wood (on Township property). Stump grinding prices will also be obtained.
Leo brought in a Spotted Lantern Fly (mounted) found in the Philadelphia area.
Spotted Lantern Flies are rapidly multiplying.
Joe spoke with Daele from the NJ Forest Service. He will contact him again regarding working up a plan to do controlled burns in the township in the fall. NJ Forest Fire representatives will attend a meeting this fall,
Ordinance Enforcement – Steve has the necessary materials and will schedule a training day for Jackson Township Code Enforcement Officers to include explanation of the language of the Jackson Township Ordinance and New Jersey State Law.
