WHEREAS, distracted driving is a dangerous epidemic on America’s roadways and in 2015 alone 3,477 people were killed in distracted driving crashes and an estimated 391,000 people were injured in motor vehicle crashes involving a distracted driver; and
WHEREAS, the Jackson Township Police Department is seeking authorization to apply for and accept the CY 2018 “Distracted Driving Crackdown - U Drive, U Text, U Pay.” Grant commencing April 1, 2018 through April 21, 2018 from the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety; and
WHEREAS, the State has awarded a grant to the Township of Jackson in the amount of $5,500.00 which will pay for 120 hours of overtime enforcement during the three (3) week mobilization period with a maximum rate to be reimbursed in the amount of $55.00/per hour; and
WHEREAS, the grant will enable Police Officers to conduct special enforcement patrols targeting distracted drivers and to educate the public on the dangers associated with distracted driving which affects drivers, passengers and bystanders.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Township Council of the Township of Jackson, County of Ocean, State of New Jersey the following:
That the Jackson Township Police Department is authorized to make application for and accept the CY 2018 Distracted Driving Crackdown - U Drive. U Text. U Pay. Grant from the State of New Jersey in the amount of $5,500.00.
That the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute and the Township Clerk to attest to the Grant Acceptance Conditions.
That this resolution shall become effective immediately.
That upon adoption of this resolution, the Clerk is authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of it to Sergeant John Convery, Patricia Schwark and any other interested parties.

WHEREAS, Filynco Properties has requested a release of the Maintenance Guarantee, which consists of a Cash Maintenance Bond in the amount of $3,712.50 pertaining to (Block 4717, Lot 4); and
WHEREAS, Michael G. Miller of T&M Associates, Township Engineer, has reviewed and approved the release of said maintenance guarantee in letter report dated November 9, 2017, which letter report is made a part hereof; and
WHEREAS, the Township Council of the Township of Jackson has considered the application and the report of the Engineer for the release of said Maintenance Guarantee Bond in the form of cash of $3,712.50; and
