Green Wedge (c(i)) Between Whetstone, Enderby, Glen Parva, Braunstone, Blaby, Littlethorpe, Narborough and Cosby (Soar Valley South) (North) – Parcel C
- Purpose Question Assessment
- Prevent the merging of settlements Question 1A: Are there physical features to prevent the merging of settlements and does the land contribute to maintaining the open and undeveloped character of the land? Answer 1A This part of the Green Wedge prevents the merging of Enderby with the commercial developments at Grove Park and the more recently developed Strategic Employment site proposed at Lubbesthorpe. The majority of the land is open and undeveloped with the exception of some isolated buildings (two of which are listed) and mobile homes along the South and southeastern boundary.
- Question 1B: Are there features to provide a visual perception of distance between settlements? Answer 1B: Yes. There are expansive views across the wedge when travelling along Leicester Lane although these are restricted to a degree by the hedgerows present that are more mature on the Northern side closer to Enderby. The land otherwise forms an extensive and clearly observable intervening space between settlements. The topography of the land rolls but allows a clear of perception of distance when viewed from many areas.
