Question 3B. Does the land contain landscape or Green/Blue Infrastructure assets that should be retained? Answer 3B: The landscape is typical of the Sence and Soar Valley landscape character area. It includes a strong mostly vegetated urban edge and disused railway (in Leicester City) which creates a narrow, long and linear character area forming a significant green buffer. The Grand Union Canal (in Leicester City) is an important man-made feature. Mature vegetation also follows the route of the canal. Mature hedgerow boundaries, hedgerow trees and small clumps of woodland provide a perceived wooded character. The River Soar runs along the Eastern edge of the land and Lubbesthorpe Brook and other watercourses branch off into the parcel. The parcel hosts a network of established tree and hedge planting along the many fields boundaries within the parcel.
