Proposed Allocation Sites

  • NAR016/END028 – Development of this site would diminish the Green Wedge designation in this location. It would occupy much of the land currently used as a golf course and leave a relatively narrow corridor following the route of the M1 to contribute to each of the purposes.

Scoring Impact:

The development would have a negative impact on Purpose 1 (preventing merging of settlements) and is considered significant enough to change the scoring from Moderate, to Weak/Moderate. There is potential for a comprehensively planned development to introduce stronger defensible boundaries in this location and have a positive contribution to guiding development from but would not change the overall scoring for this purpose.

Overall Impact of Allocation Sites on Green Wedge (cii)

The wedge as a whole could continue to function effectively should the proposed sites be developed, however the role and contribution of Parcel G is likely to become more limited. Nonetheless this may still provide some separation between settlements and retention of a corridor in this location would help maintain a strategic link to the designation to the North.
