  • Prevent the merging of settlements Question 1A: Are there physical features to prevent the merging of settlements and does the land contribute to maintaining the open and undeveloped character of the land? Answer 1A Yes. The parcel forms part of an area of land that is south of the A46 where the Rothley Brook and its floodplain are dominant features of the landscape. The brook and floodplain run North-South through the land providing a consistent 'undevelopable' area. Pylons are also present on the land as a feature of permanence. The land is generally open and forms part of a wider Green Wedge that spreads into Leicester City and Charnwood Boroughs areas. It contributes to maintaining the open and undeveloped character between the Principal Urban Area settlements and the settlements of Anstey and Groby.
