Green Wedge (e) Between Glenfield towards Beaumont Leys, Anstey and Groby – Parcel A
Purpose Question Assessment
The housing estate to the East of the site (within Leicester City) was developed mid 2000s. While this has been in place for a number of years, it nonetheless has reduced the openness between Glenfield outwards toward Beaumont Leys, and confined Parcel A with built development to a third side of the land. Further away, housing development was completed on the West side of Gynsill Lane around 2021. While having less of a direct impact upon the land, it is considered this intensifies the built form in the locality and reduces the general openness from Parcel A towards Anstey Of note, areas of the connecting green wedges in Charnwood District and Leicester City are proposed for housing allocation in these authorities’ respective plans. The reduction in these designations may affect the function of the Green Wedge, however it is understood the designation will extend to the edge of the built-up area in the allocations once developed and may include green infrastructure links.
