Question 4B. Does the land contain open space, sport or other recreation resources (formal or informal). Answer 4B: The bowls club, recreation ground and play space are designated open space in the southwest area of the land and provide a variety of formal and informal recreation purposes. Other non-designated areas near here also provide recreation opportunities. Kirby Muxloe Castle itself is an attraction, and provides walking routes around this feature. In the eastern part of the parcel beyond the M1 is the former Western Park Golf Course. The area within Leicester City is allocated for housing, however notwithstanding this a substantial area within Blaby District would remain for recreation purposes.

Summary of Assessment Much of the land has an extensive and undeveloped character giving a spacious setting for Kirby Muxloe
