PROW R41 runs across the Western edge of the site providing a walking route across fields and Rothley Brook. The cemetery and allotments are designated as Open Space., Kirby Muxloe Football Club is also designated as open space and includes artificial football pitch.

Overall Assessment for Purpose 4 The land contains a singular footpath for access and recreation into the wedge although access is otherwise limited. There are several areas of designated open space for use, although these are for specific purposes. Purpose Score: Moderate Contribution.

Summary of Assessment Parcel B has a mostly open and undeveloped character, providing (alongside the neighbouring wedge in Hinckley and Bosworth Borough) clear separation between Kirby Muxloe and Ratby. Thornfields Farm within the parcel includes a sizable vehicular storage area that interrupts the openness, however this is an isolated example and the land is otherwise open. Rothley Brook runs along part of the northern boundary of the parcel and Blaby District authority
