Green Wedge (d) Between Glenfield, Kirby Muxloe, Kirby Fields and towards Ratby, Groby and Leicester – Parcel B
Purpose Question Assessment
The allotments and cemetery, while screened to an extent by boundary vegetation, are accessible and considered to contribute to the perception of distance from settlements
Question 1C: Does the land include uses or proposed developments that are incompatible with the Green Wedge policy. Answer 1 C As referred to in Answer 1A there is a vehicular storage place near the West end of the parcel north of Desford Lane that penetrates into the otherwise open fields.
Overall Assessment for Purpose 1 The land is predominantly undeveloped and contributes to the separation of settlements by providing a clear and substantial gap. Development in parts would be restricted by the existing cemetery, allotments and sports and village club. The existing vehicular storage premises development reduces the contribution the contribution the land makes to this purpose to a degree, however notwithstanding this a clear gap remains and is safeguarded to an extent by Rothley Brook and flood zones, and the open space areas identified above. Purpose Score: Strong Contribution
