influence the pattern of development or is there an alternative? The Southeast edges of the parcel are less defined and there is a somewhat irregular pattern of development along this area. The presence of the buildings on The Mill Lane also clearly permeates the wedge. Notwithstanding these features, Rothley Brook helps reinforce the defensible nature of much of the southeastern edge. Approximately halfway between Glenfield and Groby is the boundary with Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, which is also designated as Green Wedge that side. An established mostly continuous hedgerow helps delineate much of the administrative boundary however there is little else in terms of physical features to improve the defensible nature of this boundary. The A46 to the Northwest (within HBBC) includes the main defensible boundary from this direction, although this line has been breached by the relatively modern housing development near the junction of the Leicester Western Bypass and Groby Road, which itself lacks strong defensible boundaries in parts.
