Purpose Question Assessment

Question 1C: Does the land include uses or proposed developments that are incompatible with the Green Wedge policy. Answer 1C: Not within the Green Wedge designation itself however the existing buildings at The Mill Lane are an intervening feature embedded within the land. Interrupting its open nature and separation between settlements.

Overall Assessment for Purpose 1 Rothley Brook provides a permanent feature running through the site that prohibits development although has existing development either side at the section between Mill Lane and the edge of Glenfield. The area beyond to the Northwest is expansive with an open and undeveloped character, although does not contain specific permanent features that would prevent development taking place. The presence of the existing buildings at the Mill Lane interrupts the continuity of the wedge, detracting from the contribution of the land to this purpose to a degree. Purpose Score: Moderate/Strong contribution
