• Overall Assessment for Purpose 2 Much of the land's edges includes clearly defined boundaries, roads or other physical features, and in many parts the presence of the River Soar floodplain protects and reinforces these. Some more localised areas of the land have weaker boundaries however may be more vulnerable to encroachment. Purpose Score: Moderate/Strong contribution.

Purpose Question Assessment

The Eastern edge of Enderby forms the edge of the green wedge in this locality and is reinforced by the extent of the floodplain, although this does not wrap around the southern edge of the built up area to the rear of the properties on Abbey Road. The land to the south and east of Littlethorpe does not have such a strong defensible boundary. Planning permission has been granted for residential development in this location and the proposed landscaping may provide an improved and more robust boundary to the green wedge.
