This $3.9 million design-build project will install an Intelligent Transportation System components along I-75 from south of Big Bend Road to south of Progress Boulevard including nine miles of fiber optic cable, eleven closed-circuit television cameras, and eleven Microwave Vehicle Detection units in Hillsborough County.
An Intelligent Transportation System, or ITS, uses a variety of devices including electronic roadway signs, (called dynamic message signs) and closed-circuit television cameras to monitor roadway congestion, lane closures, and current weather or emergency conditions and advise motorists of travel times.
Construction is anticipated to finish fall of 2020.
