The updated Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) 2026 is now in force, having taken effect on 1 September. One important change is that all staff must now read Part One in full. The previous shorter version in Annex A has been removed, meaning governing bodies and proprietors need to assure themselves that their arrangements, induction processes and safeguarding training reflect the new expectations. At the beginning of August, I sent out a model CP and Safeguarding Policy based on the changes to KCSIE 2026. Please ensure that the instructions therein have been used to amend your school's policy. This, and more, will be discussed at our Safeguarding for all Governors on Monday 14 December at6-8pm. Safeguarding: Safer Recruitment is also held this term Thursday 19 November 6-9pm.
