## Project Description

This project involves roadway widening, milling and resurfacing at the intersections of U.S. 1 at Reed Canal Road and U.S. 1 at Big Tree Road in South Daytona, Volusia County. The project also involves drainage improvements, sidewalk, curb & gutter, traffic signals, signing and pavement markings.

The improvements at Reed Canal Road include widening and lengthening the left turn lane from southbound U.S. 1 to Sandy

Circle and adding a right turn lane from southbound U.S. 1 to westbound Reed Canal Road. There also will be dedicated turn lanes created from Reed Canal Road into Bristol Bay Condominiums, as well as a new left turn lane from Reed Canal Road to northbound U.S. 1.

At Big Tree Road, the right turn lane from southbound U.S. 1 to westbound Big Tree Road will be widened, and a new right turn lane from eastbound Big Tree Road to southbound U.S. 1 will be created.

## Impacts to Motorists and Pedestrians

Project Cost: $1.8 Million

Project Start: March 19, 2018

Estimated Completion: Late 2018

This project will require nighttime lane closures, as well as short-term sidewalk closures and detours. Electronic message boards will alert motorists of upcoming lane closures. Signage and other traffic control devices will be used to help direct motorists and pedestrians safely around the work area. Lane closure and project information can also be found at the Florida Department of Transportation's Central Florida website www.cflroads.com.
