INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS

S.R. 434 at Rangeline Road, Grant Street, and Wayman Street

Seminole County

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is improving safety along State Road (S.R.) 434 at three signalized intersections: Rangeline Road, Grant Street, and Wayman Street. Improvements include sidewalk repairs and enhancements, reconstruction of pedestrian curb ramps to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, and upgrades to pedestrian signals to improve accessibility and visibility. The project also includes building loons at the Grant Street and Wayman Street intersections. A loon is an extra paved area outside the normal traffic lane that gives larger vehicles extra space to U-turn safely.

This project is being constructed with another project that will improve the intersection of State Road (S.R.) 434 and County Road (C.R.) 427 (Ronald Reagan Boulevard) (FPID No. 439040-1).

WHAT TO EXPECT

During construction, motorists can expect intermittent lane closures at varying times throughout the project corridor. For work occurring within 600 feet of a signalized intersection, lane closures will be limited to 9:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. Outside of these areas, lane closures may occur at any time between 7 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. The existing posted speed limit along the corridor will remain in effect during construction.

Electronic message boards and other signage will direct traffic through the work zone. Levels of work activity and noise will vary during different construction phases. Motorists should anticipate areas of uneven pavement within the project limits, a common condition during construction when the contractor applies multiple asphalt layers in phases. Many of these roadway conditions are short-term and will gradually improve as the project progresses.

The construction schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances. For the most current project details and lane closure information, please visit FDOT's Central Florida website at www.cflroads.com. PROJECT COST 1.8 million
