Growing Up in Devon, Annual Public Health Report 2026

The Board is asked to:
1. Note the publication and recommendations of the new Annual Public Health Report.
One of the statutory duties of the Director of Public Health is production of an independent annual report which provides an overview of the health status of the local population, highlights key health issues, and outlines public health priorities and actions for the year ahead. Each annual report in Devon is themed around an important health and wellbeing topic.

The Annual Public Health Report for 2026 was published in October 2026 and is entitled 'Growing up in Devon in 2026: the opportunities and challenges'. It explores the experiences and voices of children and young people in Devon, their aspirations for the future, how different their experiences can be, and how this shapes their health and wellbeing. The report makes a number of recommendations to improve these experiences and ensure that young voices are heard.
