That upon the adoption of this resolution, the Township Clerk is authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of it to the Governor, James E. McGreevy, Speaker of the Assembly, Senate Presidents, Congressman Christopher Smith, Senator Robert W. Singer and Assembly Members Joseph Malone and Ronald Dancer and the Jackson Township Board of Education.

MAYOR KAFTON: He explained that the Township Committee formed this Unsafe Structure Committee in 2000 or 2001. They were acting to eliminate the unsightly and hazardous properties throughout the town. They felt this was a quality of life issue and were helping to clean up the community. This was also to protect children from going into any of these unsafe structures. This Unsafe Structures Committee has been very successful and they are proud to put forth a list of these structures that will be torn down. The Township will be fronting the money to tear them down and then a lien will be put on that property so the Township will get reimbursed for tearing those properties down.

DEPUTY MAYOR GIBLIN: He thanked the Unsafe Structures Committee, the Township Engineer, Township Attorney and the Tax Assessor for all the efforts they put forth to make the quality of life better here in Jackson.

COMMITTEEMAN REILLY: He asked the Mayor if the historical significance of these properties were considered? Mayor Kafton replied yes.

WHEREAS, the Township Engineer, CME Associates, and Municipal Engineer, Daniel Burke, have requested authorization to award a contract for the “Demolition of Unsafe Structures” in Jackson Township; and

WHEREAS, Jackson Township previously advertised for the receipt of bids on February 4, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. for the “Demolition of Unsafe Structures”; and

WHEREAS, the following bids were submitted for the project entitled “Demolition of Unsafe Structures”:

and;
