Florida Department of TRANSPORTATION
S.R. A1A Midblock Crossings
At Watson Drive and East Coral Way
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is moving forward with construction of the midblock pedestrian crosswalks along State Road (S.R.) A1A at Watson Drive and Coral Way in Indialantic. These improvements aim to enhance pedestrian safety and accessibility with features such as Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs), in-roadway warning lights, activation buttons with audible instructions, and clear signage and pavement markings consistent with other existing crossings along the corridor.
Although construction began in spring 2025, progress was delayed due to supply chain issues affecting critical components like RRFBs and in-roadway lighting. Additionally, field conditions at Coral Way required a design revision to improve sidewalk connectivity on the east side of S.R. A1A. FDOT worked to resolve these challenges and will now be completing the installation.
Residents and motorists should anticipate intermittent northbound and southbound lane closures on S.R. A1A. Please follow posted signage, avoid distractions, and pay close attention when driving through the construction zone. Access to properties will be maintained at all times during construction activities.
Please note that the construction schedule may change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
