RESOLUTION 131R-16 TITLE: RESOLUTION APPROVING A DISABLED VETERAN EXEMPTION ON BLOCK 7201 LOT 19

WHEREAS, The Department of Veteran Affairs determined that Karen Argabright at 18 Illinois Ave, Block 7201 Lot 19 has a service connected disability that is totally disabling effective 9/16/14, and has owned the above listed parcel since 6/28/02, and

WHEREAS, the property owner has made application to the Township as a totally disabled veteran, which has been approved by the Tax Assessor on 2/18/16, and

WHEREAS, it is Township policy to grant the exemption for the current year, and up to two preceding years.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Township Council of the Township of Jackson, in the County of Ocean, State of New Jersey as follows:

  1. The Tax Collector is directed to cancel taxes as follows:
  2. 2014 - 1,451.09 2015 - 5,085.00 2016 - 2,542.50 - 1st half 2016 taxes (until parcel is formally exempt)
  3. The Tax Collector is directed to process a refund for any overpayment due to the cancellation of taxes.
  4. The parcel is to be exempted on the 2017 tax list.
