TOWNSHIP OF JACKSON RESOLUTION 277-2025

AUTHORIZING FINAL CHANGE ORDER, FINAL PAYMENT AND PROJECT CLOSEOUT FOR PITNEY LANE TRAFFIC CALMING IMPROVEMENTS, STRAIGHT EDGE STRIPING

WHEREAS, the Township of Jackson has previously entered into a contract with Straight Edge Striping of Middlesex, New Jersey for the project known as Pitney Lane Traffic Calming Improvements within Jackson Township; and

WHEREAS, by letter dated August 19, 2025, the Township Engineer, Charles P. Cunliffe, PE, PP, CME has recommended to the Township Council that Change Order No. 1 be approved resulting in a net decrease in the contract amount of $3,236.40 as a result of adjustments for as-built quantities; and

WHEREAS, the Township Engineer has further recommended that Payment Application No. 1, Final Payment in the amount of $78,837.60 be made to the contractor; and

WHEREAS, the Township Council wishes to accept the recommendation of its Engineer; and

WHEREAS, this Resolution is specifically contingent upon the submittal of an original Affidavit of Compliance with the New Jersey Prevailing Wage Act, original consent of Surety Company to Final Payment and the posting of an original Maintenance Bond No. 1337002 issued by Selective Insurance Company of America in the amount of $39,418.80 for a period of two (2) years, commencing August 15, 2025 be submitted; and

WHEREAS, it appears that the contractor has submitted the documents set forth above.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED this 26th day of August, 2025 by the Township Council of the Township of Jackson, County of Ocean, State of New Jersey as follows:

1. The Township hereby authorizes Change Order No. 1 reducing the contract amount by $3,236.40 as well as Final Payment in the amount of $78,837.60.
2. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an original consent of Surety the Final Payment and Maintenance Bond shall be filed with the Township Clerk prior to such payment being provided.
3. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution shall be provided to the following:
1. Charles Cunliffe, PE, PP, CME, Township Engineer, Marianne Horta, QPA, Purchasing Agent, Stephanie Marlin, CFO, Lavon Phillips, Township Administrator & Straight Edge Striping
