NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Township Council of the Township of Jackson in the County of Ocean, State of New Jersey, that it hereby opposes New Jersey's "sanctuary state" policies and urges the Governor and the New Jersey Legislature to re-evaluate their positions on this issue in an effort to promote the health, safety, and general welfare of the residents and taxpayers of the State of New Jersey and the Township of Jackson.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Township of Jackson shall never become a "sanctuary city" and that the Township Council of the Township of Jackson supports strictly enforcing all local, state, and federal laws to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the residents and taxpayers of the Township of Jackson.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Township of Jackson shall fully cooperate with federal initiatives regarding immigration matters, including cooperation with the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to the extent permitted by law.
