TOWNSHIP OF JACKSON RESOLUTION 156-2025

RESOLUTION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF JACKSON, COUNTY OF OCEAN, STATE OF NEW JERSEY, AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A TRAFFIC SIGNAL AGREEMENT FOR COUNTY ROAD #10 (ROUTE 636/BENNETTS MILLS ROAD) AND COUNTY ROAD #8 (BUTTERFLY ROAD-FRANK APPLEGATE ROAD), BETWEEN THE COUNTY OF OCEAN AND THE TOWNSHIP OF JACKSON

WHEREAS, traffic conditions exist at the intersection of County Road #10 (Route 636/Bennetts Mills Road) and County Road #8 (Butterfly Road-Frank Applegate Road), in the Township of Jackson, County of Ocean, State of New Jersey, which require the upgrade of the current flashing signal to a fully operational traffic signal in order to improve safety and to expedite the safe movement and conduct of pedestrian and vehicular traffic; and

WHEREAS, the County of Ocean has performed an investigation and indicated its willingness to install a fully operational traffic control signal at said intersection; and

WHEREAS, the County of Ocean has proposed a form of agreement pertaining to installation and maintenance of said traffic signal; and

WHEREAS, the governing body desires to authorize the execution of the traffic signal agreement for County Road #10 (Route 636/Bennetts Mills Road) and County Road #8 (Butterfly Road-Frank Applegate Road) with the County of Ocean.

• NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the governing body of the Township of Jackson, County of Ocean, State of New Jersey as follows:
• That the Township hereby authorizes the execution of a traffic signal agreement with the County of Ocean with regard to the traffic signal to be located at County Road #10 (Route 636/Bennetts Mills Road) and County Road #8 (Butterfly Road-Frank Applegate Road. The form of said agreement is attached hereto and incorporated herein as Schedule A.
• That the Mayor is authorized to execute and the Township Clerk to attest to the traffic signal agreement with the County of Ocean for the traffic improvements at County Road #10 (Route 636/Bennetts Mills Road) and County Road #8 (Butterfly Road-Frank Applegate Road).
• That a certified copy of this resolution shall be forwarded to the New Jersey Department of Transportation, the Ocean County Engineer and the Township Engineer.
