TOWNSHIP JACKSON RESOLUTION 163-2026

AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A SHARED SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH THE OCEAN COUNTY PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE OCEAN COUNTY REGIONAL SWAT TEAM

WHEREAS, the Uniform Shared Services and Consolidation Act, N.J.S.A. 40A:65-1 et seq., authorizes local units of this State to enter into agreements for the sharing of services and facilities; and

WHEREAS, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office has established a Regional SWAT Team and Crisis Negotiation Team to provide specialized law enforcement assistance and related services to participating agencies throughout Ocean County; and

WHEREAS, the Township of Jackson Police Department desires to participate in the Ocean County Regional SWAT Team pursuant to the Shared Service Agreement dated May 26, 2026, between the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and the Jackson Township Police Department; and

WHEREAS, the Shared Service Agreement provides that it shall remain in effect until cancelled by any involved party pursuant to the procedures set forth therein, including cancellation upon ninety (90) days written notice to the Ocean County SWAT Coordinator; and

WHEREAS, the Township Council has determined that participation in the Ocean County Regional SWAT Team is in the best interests of the Township and will promote public safety through coordinated regional law enforcement services.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Township Council of the Township of Jackson, County of Ocean, State of New Jersey, as follows:

  1. The Mayor and Municipal Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to execute the Shared Service Agreement dated May 26, 2026, with the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office for participation in the Ocean County Regional SWAT Team, in substantially the same form as attached hereto.
  2. The Township Council hereby authorizes the Jackson Township Police Department to participate in the Ocean County Regional SWAT Team in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Agreement.
  3. A copy of the executed Agreement shall be kept on file in the Office of the Municipal Clerk.
  4. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption according to law.
