If Yes, what MS4-related material does it contain?
Erie County Department of Planning is responsible for publishing online stormwater information; ECDP's website includes information about the County's watersheds, nonpoint source pollution, and common issues experienced by waterways in developed areas. Also included are practices for residents to keep waterways healthy which are best detailed in our embedded Northwest Pennsylvania Homeowners Guide to Stormwater Management.
- Describe any other method(s) used during the reporting period to provide information on stormwater to the public:
Curated Facebook posts to the Erie County Department of Planning page are also utilized for dissemination of stormwater information. Semi-monthly posts were published covering modern stormwater issues including erosion, pollution, and aging infrastructure. Quarterly newsletter articles were also created with specific focus on various BMPs, seasonal stormwater issues, and so on. Due to limitations of COVID-19, conventional in-person tabling events could not be utilized.
- Identify specific plans for the publication of stormwater materials for the upcoming year:
Stormwater information will continue to be updated routinely and provided on the Erie County Department of Planning's website with relevant links to other helpful resources. Regular Facebook posts will also continue being posted regarding stormwater information and education and funding opportunities for interested parties. Advertisement of such opportunities and other information will be considered with local news media, particularly as a follow-up to considerable precipitation events. There are plans to develop materials in line with DCNR's Lawn Conversion Program to distribute to both the public and municipal staff/leadership. Ongoing developments of a stormwater fee feasibility study also offers an opportunity for educational materials.
- BMP #4: Distribute stormwater educational materials to the target audiences.
Identify the two additional methods of distributing stormwater educational materials during the previous reporting period (e.g., displays, posters, signs, pamphlets, booklets, brochures, radio, local cable TV, newspaper articles, other advertisements, bill stuffers, posters, presentations, conferences, meetings, fact sheets, giveaways, or storm drain stenciling).
An Earth Day video was produced in collaboration with a number of local organizations to promote local environmental issues, including stormwater. Despite COVID-19 limitations, a hybrid virtual/in-person Meaningful Watershed Educational Experience (MWEE) workshop was held for traditional and nontraditional educators, covering methods for integrating stormwater and watershed concepts and implementable student projects into grade school cirricula.
