            "text": "Pretrial Services was established in July of 1990 to help alleviate jail overcrowding. Our mission is to promote pretrial justice while enhancing community safety. In 2025, we continued to assist the Court in making decisions regarding conditions of pretrial release by providing the court with pretrial reports and assessment on individuals who were arrested and remained in custody prior to arraignment."

            "text": "Pretrial Services uses the Virginia Pretrial Risk Assessment Instrument-Revised. This pretrial assessment identifies factors related to the individuals likelihood of failure to appear in court and new arrest during the pretrial stage. In addition, Pretrial Services completes the Domestic Violence Screening Instrument (DVSI) in domestic violence cases alleging intimate partner violence. Pretrial Services conducted 3,248 pretrial risk assessments and 1,155 domestic violence screenings in 2025."
