Using 10 ISSR Mendelian markers, an analysis of genetic diversity with leaf DNA samples collected from 19 pawpaw cultivars revealed a moderate to high level of genetic diversity in the selections. These data suggest that ISSR marker methodology has a higher level of discrimination in evaluating genetic diversity in pawpaw than do isozyme or RAPD marker systems."
