It is very important for them to take the required courses each semester to ensure that they are able to matriculate in a timely manner. The State measures the success of students by using a 6-year graduation rate. We believe that if students take at least 15 credit bearing courses each semester that they will be successful to complete their degrees in 4 years."

In particular, first-generation students and other students who have no parental script to follow when it comes to making academic or social decisions about college life may find themselves overwhelmed. From the first day of classes, the Thorobred Learning Center provides an important connection to campus resources for all students, encouraging their academic success, integrating them into campus life, and creating a support system to ensure they will excel in college and beyond. The Thorobred Learning Center serves as a go-to academic resource centrally located in our Student Center, providing students with a wide range of support services to help them meet the academic demands of college-level work. Thousands of students benefit from TLC's services each year. TLC staff facilitates both group and individual tutoring, workshops, study groups, and study tables, with the goal of ensuring Kentucky State University students keep on track towards a degree. Additionally, offer an array of free services, including tutoring, advising, workshops, review sessions, and other academic support. TLC also has a computer lab for student use."
