            "text": "SUMMARY OF PROGRAMS/ ACTIVITIES: The academy is a five week, eight credit hour granting program, whose goals are to 1) provide students the opportunity to get a head start on academic credit, 2) strengthen their academic skills, 3) participate in career exploration, and 4) build a sense of community and engagement with the Kentucky State University campus. In addition to first year courses in Mathematics and English, academy participants will enroll in KSU 101, a course designed to assist students in making a smooth academic and social transition to University life. Through guided experiences, students will begin the self-exploration process while working towards creating a college mindset. This course will provide students with an introduction to social, intellectual, personal, and physical wellness as they relate to college-level success. Becoming a Master Student by Dave Ellis will be the text used for the course."
