Mathematics department developed MAT 172, Accelerated Contemporary Mathematics, as a pilot course to accommodate the students who do not meet the benchmarks for MAT 111. The course includes the same topics as MAT 111. The beginning algebra concepts required for each topic are covered with the topic on an as-needed/just-in-time basis. The pilot has been successful and we will use the accelerated pedagogy in the new, proposed MAT 111 and remove the prerequisite requirement.
