"text": "The Haas TL-1 is a CNC (Computer Numerical Control) toolroom lathe used to shape raw metal or plastic into precise cylindrical parts. It features an Intuitive Programming System (IPS) that allows operators to run the machine like a traditional manual lathe or use full CNC automation without needing to write complex G-code. Students can use electronic handwheels to manually turn parts, allowing them to learn the \"feel\" of machining before transitioning to fully automated CNC cycles. Students can turn CAD/CAM designs into functional, real-world components in minutes for competition vehicles (like Formula SAE), robotics teams, or senior capstone projects. By operating the machine, students experience the physical limitations of materials and tooling first-hand. This results in better, more manufacturable designs in their future engineering careers."
