He confirmed they did assist the town in coming up with some reductions to the tax levy and the defeated school budget. He thanked the school administration for providing much information and made recommendation which would not affect the quality of education. He discussed social security benefits and reductions, salaries for substitute custodians, transportation and confirmed no changes were being made to the bus schedules as previously discussed, tuition cost to handicapped children which would be less than they thought, miscellaneous revenue they budgeted to get more money. He stated they reduced the tax levy by $1.3 million, which is the maximum allowed by the State. Councilwoman Updegrave thanked him for reviewing it so quickly along with the board of liaisons, Councilwoman Ingram and Councilman Martin. Ms. Ingram stated there was a change in the law that occurred and she asked him to explain further. He stated they could only reduce the tax levy to what it was the previous year. Councilman Martin added his firm did a great job as did Councilwoman Ingram. He then asked about handicapped transportation that was budgeted more per student and confirmed they wouldn't have any problems."
